Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Can I complete a Level 2 Livescan Background Check at a FastFingerprints location?

A. Yes. All FastFingerprints locations available on our locations page are approved by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and ready to complete your required Level 2 Livescan background check.

Q. How do I know if I am required to include a photo with my background check?

A. If you are required to include a photo you should be informed at the time you are asked to submit a background check. The Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) and Department of Health (DOH) require a photo be included with all fingerprint submissions. If you are unsure, you should verify with the individual requesting your background check. If that individual is unsure, they should check with their state regulatory agency.

Q. I am required to have a photo included with my Level 2 Background Check. Can FastFingerprints provide this?

A. Yes. All FastFingerprints locations indicated as ‘Photo Capture Capable’ are approved by FDLE, AHCA and DOH to collect and submit the required photo with your electronic fingerprints. As additional state agencies also require a photo, FastFingerprints locations will be ready to submit photos with fingerprints for all applicants. Details on all FastFingerprints locations can be found on our locations page.

Q. What is the ORI # (Originating Agency Identifier)?

A. The ORI# is provided by FDLE (Florida Department of Law Enforcement) and identifies the agency that is requesting and will receive the results of the Level 2 background check. i.e. Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), Department of Health (DOH), Department of Children and Families (DCF) , Division of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR). FDLE will NOT process a background check request without an ORI#. It is critical to have the correct, current ORI# assigned to the agency requesting your background check. If the individual requesting your background check does not know the correct ORI#, they should inquire and confirm with their state regulatory agency.

Q. What is an OCA#?

A. The OCA# is assigned by the DCF (Department of Children and Families) to individual DCF provider organizations. If you have been given an OCA# provide it, in addition to the mandatory ORI#, when registering for your background check. The OCA# is not required but does help expedite background check results to DCF.

Q. Where are your locations and what are the hours?

A. All FastFingerprints locations, directions, hours of operations and phone numbers can be found on our locations page. For more information please call the location of your choice.

Q. If I am located out of state how can I submit a background check required by the state of Florida?

A. FastFingerprints has locations in Ohio, Arizona, California, Texas, Kentucky, and Washington D.C. that can capture and submit electronic fingerprints and photos required by Florida directly to the FDLE. Ohio locations are Columbus, Ravenna, Reynoldsburg, Steubenville, Cincinnati, Westlake, and Beachwood. If you are unable to make it to one of those locations, you can utilize our Florida Card Scanning Service by following the instructions found on our services page and the FL Card Scanning Form or you can call the National Background Check, Inc. corporate office for more information at 1.877.932.2435. Please note: Our services are provided strictly to help applicants get licensed in the state of Florida from afar. In some cases, you may need to complete another background check with a photo when you arrive in Florida.

Q. What personal information do I need to provide?

A. The required information can be found on the FastFingerprints Registration Form. We recommend you print this registration form, complete it and bring it with you to the FastFingerprints location of your choice. Arriving with a completed registration form will save time, otherwise you will be asked to complete this form at the location.

Q. Where do my background checks results go?

A. The results of your background check are sent from FDLE to the designated state agency.

Q. Can I receive the results of my background check?

A. No.You do not personally receive your background check results. The state agency that requested your background check will receive the results and will provide you with information regarding status.

Q. If I just recently had a background check completed, can that be used for another agency?

A. Most likely it cannot be used again as generally background checks are not transferable from other state agencies or federal agencies. The state agency requesting your background check will confirm.

Q. Can I complete a background check to send to another state?

A. All FastFingerprints locations in Florida can only complete Level 2 Livescan background checks for the state of Florida, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. If you have a need to obtain a background check for another state you will need to contact an agency in that state. If you need an FBI background check not for employment or licensing within the US but for personal reasons, call National Background Check Inc. 1.877.932.2435 to inquire about the FBI Channeling process.

Q. Do I need an appointment?

A. No. All locations conveniently accept walk-ins. Many locations have Saturday hours. If you would like to schedule an appointment, you can call the location of your choice directly. For hours of operation and phone numbers, visit our locations page.

Q. What is the cost of my Level 2 background check?

A. Please call the FastFingerprints location of your choice, found on our locations page for pricing.

Q. What do I need to bring to the fingerprints location?

A. You need to bring a valid, government issued photo ID, your ORI# and payment. It is also recommended you bring the completed Registration Form.

Q. What happens if my fingerprints are rejected?

A. If upon receipt of your electronic livescan fingerprints, the FDLE and FBI determine your fingerprints to be unacceptable, FDLE notifies the state agency. The state agency will then notify you that FDLE is requiring a second set of fingerprints. FDLE will provide a TCR# to be used in the second transaction. Once notified you will return to the location where you completed your original fingerprints and provide the TCR# and request from FDLE. Your fingerprints will be captured a second time at no charge and re-submitted per FDLE’s request. If the second transaction is again rejected, FDLE and the FBI will complete your background check via alternative methods (social security number, address, etc.). It is important to note that the FastFingerprints location does not receive notice that FDLE has rejected your fingerprints; that information is always sent directly from FDLE to the state agency receiving the results.
